Software Engineer

Burst Online Entertainment is seeking a software engineer to continue development of their first title now in open beta, new games, and systems for commerce, community, social networking, and publishing for the web-based video game industry. This position involves working with the leadership and game design teams to gather system requirements, design systems to fulfill them in a flexible way, and to participate in organizing the team in order to execute on those designs.

General skills required:

  • Relational Data Modeling
  • Object oriented system design for multi-user and multi-component systems
  • Firm foundation in common design patterns
  • Familiarity with various software development lifecycles including Scrum/Agile
  • Ability to work well on a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Background in software architecture

Candidate must be skilled in the following tool sets:

  • C# development
    • Templates and generics
    • Web service development
  • Java development
    • Java generics
    • Thread-safe techniques
  • SQL Development
    • Stored procedures
    • Data modeling
  • Flash/CS5
    • Loading data from remote sources
    • Web services

The ideal candidate will additionally have skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • C++ Development
    • Templates
    • Common design patterns
    • STL and boost
  • ASP.Net
  • Multiplayer, massively multiplayer, and/or virtual world game development
